Ahmad Al Gergawi, founder of the UAE-based creative house Dyemension A, is leading a new wave of storytelling rooted in the Emirates. His mission is to connect global brands with the UAE by introducing fresh narratives that resonate both locally and internationally, amplifying Emirati voices and celebrating regional talent under the theme “from the UAE to the world.”

His work has already connected him with major names such as Dubai Culture, Vacheron Constantin, Louvre Abu Dhabi, and Van Cleef & Arpels, and most recently resulted in Birkenstock’s first Emirati campaign.

He describes his journey as shaped by curiosity, community, and the freedom to create. “I’m Emirati first,” he says. “This country gave me space to grow and explore different versions of my ambition. I once thought success looked a certain way, but later understood it is personal and something you define for yourself.”

His interest in visual storytelling began early. “It started with filming family trips,” he recalls. “Short clips I would edit on my desktop to capture those moments. I didn’t expect it to lead to collaborations with global brands.”

For Al Gergawi, style developed through art, cinema, and travel. “I always noticed how clothing in films reveals character without dialogue,” he says. His explorations took him from Soho to Hackney to Alserkal Avenue, places known for individuality. “It wasn’t about shopping. It was observing how people express themselves. It taught me that creativity doesn’t follow fixed rules.”

“My personal style is refined and minimal, with a focus on craftsmanship and a balance between global brands and local designers. I believe in slow fashion, timeless pieces, and deliberate choices. Sometimes I design or tailor my own shirts because I want my wardrobe to feel personal,” he adds.

His earliest fashion memories come from weekends at Dubai’s malls. “Diesel at Mercato was the place,” he says. “Back then, Diesel represented a certain attitude. Those T-shirts and jeans were statements for us.”

When it comes to wardrobe essentials, he keeps things straightforward. “A good pair of jeans that work from day to night. A white shirt because it’s versatile. And a vintage watch. It adds a layer of character nothing else can.”

His fashion influences range from 1950s Egyptian cinema to 1970s Hollywood, the UAE’s creative community, and more recently Jacob Elordi’s understated tailoring, which he feels embodies modern minimalism and quiet luxury. His father, however, remains his defining reference. “He grew up in the 1960s when people dressed in suits to travel. His photo albums shaped my idea of elegance.” Even the kandora, he adds, allows personal interpretation. “Sneakers, loafers, watches, each person adds their own touch.”

If he had to keep one outfit, it would be his striped Our Legacy shirt. “Their cuts and approach are consistent and considered.” His most recent purchase is a pair of piped loafers from Lemaire.

This season he is drawn to monochrome looks, textured materials such as suede and lambskin, and outerwear with references to the 1970s. “Relaxed tailoring, wide-leg trousers, and wide denim remain central to my wardrobe.” Looking ahead, he is interested in the return of oversized bermudas for Summer 2026. “Jonathan Anderson presented them well. They feel modern and reflect where menswear is heading.”

Here he tells Esquire about his 3 fits…
