UAE authorities have intensified safety advisories and operational measures as unstable weather conditions affect road networks, parking services, and public transportation across several emirates.

Abu Dhabi Police has called on drivers to observe safe driving practices during rainfall and weather fluctuations, urging motorists to check weather conditions before starting their vehicles and to refrain from approaching areas where water accumulates or flows. Authorities emphasised the importance of following the guidelines and instructions issued by specialised authorities to ensure public safety.

In a statement, Abu Dhabi Police urged road users to reduce speed, leave sufficient safety distance between vehicles, and strictly adhere to speed limits displayed on road signs and electronic road signage. The police also warned against dangerous behaviors such as stopping to take photographs or engaging in off-road activities during adverse weather conditions.

An Instagram post on their official account reiterated these safety messages, highlighting the heightened risks posed by wet roads and reduced visibility. The police stressed that entering flooded valleys represents a serious traffic violation, punishable by a Dh2,000 fine, 23 traffic points, and a vehicle impoundment period of 60 days.

Abu Dhabi Police further called on drivers to remain alert to weather updates before setting out and to avoid water bodies and valley flow areas, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and expected weather fluctuations in the coming days.

Sharjah Municipality announces parking fee waiver

In response to the same unstable weather conditions, Sharjah City Municipality announced a temporary waiver of public parking fees. The waiver applies from the time of publishing the announcement until the end of Friday, December 19, 2025.

According to an instagram post on the Sharjah Municipality official account, the waiver covers all public parking areas across the emirate, including zones subject to daily fees and public holiday charges, as indicated by blue instruction signs. The exemption also applies to smart yard parking facilities at the Hanging Gardens, Al Hafiya Lake, and Al Rafisah Dam.

Sharjah Municipality also announced the closure of all public parks on December 18 and December 19, citing unstable weather conditions. The measure is intended to ensure public safety during periods of potential rainfall and adverse conditions.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority has informed the public that intercity bus services to and from Ajman and Sharjah have been suspended until further notice due to the current weather conditions.
