“Stealth, Strength, Speed.” That is the manifesto driving the Big Bang Unico SR_A the latest drop from Hublot and Samuel Ross, unveiled at LVMH Watch Week 2026 – in Milan.
The creative dialogue between Hublot and the British designer started in 2020, and has produced some of the watch world’s most distinctive architectural forms. Now, the monochromatic beast that is the Big Bang Unico SR_A opens a new chapter in the partnership, one that fuses Ross’s stark industrial language with Hublot’s most emblematic chronograph movement.
The new timepiece marks a shift from the sculptural tourbillons of previous releases toward a more versatile, yet equally radical, design. Limited to just 200 pieces, the watch features a 42mm case crafted entirely from satin-finished and polished black ceramic, echoing the modular construction of the classic Big Bang line while stripping the aesthetic back to a sleek, stealthy minimum.
The visual anchor of this collaboration is undoubtedly the strap. Ross has applied his signature honeycomb motif—previously seen in his sculpture work—to a newly developed rubber strap engineered for lightness and ergonomics. As Ross explains, the perforated design is “about taking information away from the watch to increase the lightness,” reinforcing the piece’s functional, hard-wearing character.
Under the hood lies the HUB1280 Unico Manufacture calibre. This is the first time the SR_A design codes have been paired with Hublot’s in-house flyback chronograph movement, which boasts a 72-hour power reserve and a visible column wheel at 6 o’clock. The matte black skeleton dial exposes these mechanics, highlighting the “wearable machine” ethos Ross envisioned for a rugged, hands-on lifestyle.
For Hublot, this release is doubly significant. CEO Julien Tornare notes that the launch coincides with the 20th anniversary of the brand’s very first “All Black” timepiece, making this monochrome edition a fitting tribute to Hublot’s history of avant-garde design.
