The latest film from Cherien Dabis, All That’s Left of You, has been selected to represent Jordan in the International Feature Film category at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards. The selection marks a significant moment for the multi-generational drama, which tells the story of a Palestinian family from the loss of their citrus orchards in 1948 to the present day.
The film, which is loosely inspired by the experiences of Dabis’ own family, had its world premiere to critical acclaim at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Since then, it has won multiple awards, including the Golden Gate Award and Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the San Francisco International Film Festival. The drama’s cast features Saleh Bakri, Adam Bakri, Mohammad Bakri, and Cherien Dabis herself.
Dabis is a critically acclaimed and award winning Palestinian American film and television director, writer, and actress.
The selection was made by a committee of six Jordanian professionals and experts in the audio-visual field, with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan overseeing the process. As Jordan’s ninth-ever submission to the category, All That’s Left of You is now a contender in the race for the prestigious Oscar.
The nominations for the 98th Academy Awards will be announced on January 22, 2026, with the ceremony to be held on March 16, 2026.
