Here’s a fun fact, the original colour of Ferrari was yellow, not red. Yellow—or ‘Giallo Modena’—was chosen as a tribute to the Italian city of Modena, the birthplace of Ferrari. It wasn’t until the 1930s when all Italian car makers was mandated to use Rosso Corsa (‘Racing Red’) by the FIA. In response, Ferrari kept its official logo in the original yellow. It is that history that inspired the subtle inclusion of the yellow tip in the cap of the latest collaboration between Montblanc and Ferrari.
It comes as little surprise from two brands that are so widely celebrated for their commitment to design and precision craftsmanship, and the Meisterstück Great Masters Ferrari Tailor Made Classica Special Edition, is a writing instrument that meticulously blends the heritage of both companies.

Building on a collaboration that began with Montblanc’s ‘Great Characters Enzo Ferrari’ edition in 2021, the new release is the first in a trilogy that is inspired by the art of customization offered by Ferrari.
This latest creation translates Ferrari’s bespoke design language into the world of fine writing, offering a new way for people to express themselves on the page. The new edition draws its inspiration from the Ferrari “Tailor Made” program, a service that allows clients to personalize their vehicle. This first installment explores the “Classica” design world, which uses modern technologies to revisit the colors, materials, and components of vintage Ferrari creations.

Like the yellow Montblanc emblem in the cap of the writing instrument, every design element adds a further layer of storytelling. The design incorporates elements that reflect the Ferrari GT cars of the 1950s and 1960s. The mahogany barrel is inlaid with a black lacquer stripe, similar to the tactile steering wheel of those vintage cars. The platinum-coated accents evoke polished chrome finishes.
The cross-hatch pattern on the forepart, cone, and cap top references the texture of the metal spokes on the original Ferrari GT steering wheel. The iconic Prancing Horse is subtly integrated into the barrel. The hand-beaten body panels of mid-century Ferrari GT cars are echoed in the handcrafted, Au 750 solid gold, rhodium-coated Montblanc nib. The embossing on the nib depicts the Montblanc emblem against a cross-hatched circle, celebrating the collaboration.
Montblanc and Ferrari share a reverence for fine craftsmanship, handmade quality, and technical innovation. The Meisterstück Great Masters Ferrari Tailor Made Classica Special Edition is a testament to this shared belief. The fountain pen and rollerball will be available starting in October 2025 in Montblanc boutiques, online, and at select Ferrari boutiques.
