The loafer I won’t be rushing to buy this summer

After first launching last year in bold colours like “Silver Metallic/Navy” and “Dark Juniper,” the viral New Balance 1906 Loafer is back again.

The latest drop is part of New Balance’s annual “Grey Days” celebration — a nod to the brand’s love for all things grey, which goes way back to the 1980s.

Basically, the New Balance 1906 Loafer is a mix between a penny loafer and a running shoe. It has a soft suede upper, synthetic details, and New Balance’s comfy 860v2 sole with added cushioning at the heel. The brand calls it a “fresh take on smart casual,” meant to blend style, comfort, and a bit of surprise.

But here’s the thing: I’m not sold. While I’ve been loving most comebacks in fashion lately, this one’s not for me.

Why? Simple. Priced at 900 AED, the New Balance 1906 Loafer is a mix of two very different styles — loafers and sneakers — and I’m just not into that hybrid look.

Maybe it’s just me. What you think?
